Support tickets
Contact Canna to ask for help, report a bug, or request an invitation, even before signing in. Save the private tracking link to read and reply to staff messages; signed-in members also have My tickets. Replies appear on the ticket page. This is a ticket system, not an email inbox. Invitations are still issued by the Owner.
Hidden honeypot fields, single-use expiring verification, background proof of work, same-origin checks, and per-client and global submission limits reduce spam without a paid CAPTCHA. Tickets are stored in the encrypted server database and are visible only to their author and staff.
What is Canna?
INVITE ONLYCanna brings a Windows mod manager and a private modding forum together. It started as a family project: one place to manage the games you play, share modpacks, and help each other make and troubleshoot mods.
Manually uploaded mods always require staff approval after automatic analysis, including uploads from the Owner. External imports can be approved automatically when a completed scan has no findings; suspicious findings require staff review. Older manual uploads without a recorded staff approval return to the review queue. Packing, obfuscation and malware-signature findings automatically deny a submission with a reason and notification. Packing heuristics are conservative and can flag legitimate software; rejection is a policy decision, not proof of malware. Denied archives stay encrypted and quarantined for staff inspection, excluded from the library and downloads. Admin panel → Logs shows automatic and staff decisions and their reasons. The Admin panel has a dedicated mod review queue with a full-page source workspace: file tree, safe syntax highlighting and findings linked to file/line when available. An isolated worker reconstructs supported .NET and Java code, applies suspicious-behavior heuristics and checks ClamAV public malware signatures. Detect It Easy 3.21 adds public packer/protector signatures and heuristic scanning; additional PE checks flag high-entropy executable sections, writable executable sections and unusual entry-point layouts, including files whose extension was changed. A modified or unfamiliar packer may be flagged by structure without being named; detection is not guaranteed for every packer or VMProtect variant. Packed code is not automatically malware, and protection can prevent useful decompilation. Staff must record reasons for accepted findings. Unsupported, oversized, obfuscated or failed analysis is reported explicitly and blocks approval until reviewed; a failed worker needs a new run. Worker permission failures are analysis errors, not suspicious-code findings, and cannot be accepted as a false positive. Binary signature findings do not claim source line numbers. Decompiled source is reconstructed, not the original project. New imports and uploads are analyzed automatically, including imported dependencies. Required dependencies and their dependencies are imported recursively; optional dependencies can be included. Conflicting versions or cyclic graphs are rejected. Approval is a review step, not a guarantee that a mod is harmless. Members have 2 GiB of uploaded-mod storage, VIPs 5 GiB, and admins 10 GiB; each account can upload up to 500 mods and create up to 5,000 posts and profile comments. Sign-in limits are scoped to clients and accounts.
Discover starts with game cards and remembers your chosen game when you visit another page. Use the back arrow or click Discover again while viewing it to return to the game list. The desktop app detects installed Unity games and Left 4 Dead / Left 4 Dead 2 in your Steam libraries. The website hosts discussions, mod files, member profiles and shared modpacks. Bopl Battle and ROUNDS have Unity modpacks; Minecraft support is being developed alongside it.
You choose the mods in a pack. Canna downloads the selected files from the community server, prepares the supported game's mod loader, and gives you vanilla and modded launch options. Sharing a pack links other members to its selections; it does not share the game itself.
Get started
- Join with an invitation. Ask someone in the community for an invite. On the sign-in page, enter a username, email, password and invitation code to create your account.
- Verify your email. Enter the code emailed to you. Later sign-ins use an email code too; you can trust your device for 30 days.
- Download it from the website. Run the Canna installer to set up the app. Once installed, Canna checks for application updates at startup.
- Connect your Canna account. In desktop Settings, click Sign in & connect account. Sign into the website, then type or paste the six-character code from Canna into its dedicated verification page. The app copies the code to your clipboard; verification happens automatically. The app then syncs the server library.
- Create a modpack. In Game library, choose a detected game and click Create modpack. Add mods from Discover or import your own files, choose which are enabled, then apply the pack with the game closed.
- Play or share. Use the game's vanilla or modded launch options. Export a local pack to share a file, or use the website's modpack sharing to create a member-only link.
ROUNDS and Source addon packs
The website’s Mods & modpacks game filter includes supported games even when they have no uploads. In Upload a mod, choose the game by name; Other Steam game accepts a Steam app ID. For Left 4 Dead, the upload form shows VPK packaging and practice-launch guidance. Supported Steam games appear in the desktop Library even before installation, with dimmed artwork and a Not Installed label. Their modpack and launch controls are disabled until Steam detects the installation; use Rescan Steam after installing. ROUNDS supports BepInEx 5 modpacks, local plugin imports and Thunderstore imports through the website. Its official BepInExPack_ROUNDS loader is hosted on the Canna server. Existing plugins outside Canna’s managed folder remain unchanged.
Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 support self-contained VPK addons, including VPK-based practice and speedrunning addons. Create a pack from the game’s Library card, add a local VPK or a ZIP containing VPKs, and choose Apply modpack. Community ZIP uploads can contain VPKs and become available after review. Desktop 0.2.31 also supports reviewed L4D2 Windows x86 Valve server plugin packages with a Canna manifest, matching DLL checksum and locally generated registration. Local addons are limited to 32 MiB per file; split VPK archives, SourceMod/Metamod packages and standalone speedrunning tools are not supported by this installer.
The button is labelled Launch modded for every supported game. Launch modded enables Canna’s selected addons and launches Steam with -insecure -console -condebug for practice. Launch vanilla disables Canna-managed addons and enables -condebug without adding -insecure. Other addons, injected plugins and custom Steam launch options are not removed. Neither mode guarantees VAC compatibility for external modifications. -insecure disables VAC for that launch; it does not enable bhopping or establish leaderboard eligibility. Use each speedrunning community’s rules for valid runs. Local L4D2 launches and Canna Auto-Hop activation were verified with VAC disabled; the original Left 4 Dead remains untested.
Play Lab: set up, recover and test
Desktop 0.2.31 · Community 0.3.48Open a desktop modpack and select Play Lab, or open Play Lab on the website. Shared tools cover every supported game profile. Minecraft instances have their own Play Lab entry. Tools check exact enabled mod names, versions and archive hashes, dependencies, the detected game branch/build, loader label and Canna version. Unknown information stays unknown; matching manifests does not prove that a game session will work.
Create an invite-only readiness lobby and share its invitation privately. Members choose display names; other members see readiness and chosen names, without IP addresses, device names or account identifiers. Readiness expires after 60 seconds without an update. Desktop readiness refreshes while the lab is open; the website has an Update readiness button. Lobbies expire after 24 hours. Matching the host creates an isolated candidate pack with the same available archive pins; missing releases and configuration differences require explicit review. Canna never silently switches a Steam beta.
Recovery snapshots store verified cached mod archives and mod configurations on your computer. Choose an empty dedicated backup folder and storage budget in Play Lab; automatic snapshots capture the last Canna-applied setup before replacing it. Minecraft content installs also snapshot the existing setup when automatic recovery is enabled. Mark a snapshot working after testing it. Canna retains the working snapshot and up to five other snapshots per game, within the selected budget. Restore needs the game closed, intact archives and matching game/instance versions. Recovery does not downgrade or copy worlds. World data packs and save files need their own save backup. External config files outside the supported config folder are excluded.
Diagnostics read local logs and suggest checks for dependency, version, disk, memory, checksum and locked-file problems. They do not establish the cause automatically. Create dependency-closed test halves to narrow a conflict while keeping the original pack. Shared dependencies may appear in both halves. Minecraft test candidates copy mod content and supported configuration files into a separate instance, without worlds. Use the local configuration editor for CFG, TOML or JSON files; saving requires the game closed and rejects files changed outside Canna.
Publish an experimental manifest channel for a pack. Promotion to stable requires your successful-session observation for that exact manifest, with no missing/unknown preflight information. Stable is a pack owner's recorded result, not independent certification. Community observations have pages of 50 and expire after 30 days. Manifests can be downloaded and used to make desktop candidate packs when their exact archives remain available.
Privacy is the default: no automatic telemetry or hardware fingerprint. Logs, local paths, account tokens and configuration values are excluded from shared manifests. Selected shared config digests are optional. Reports and support tickets require a preview; automatic redaction is conservative, so review the preview yourself. Community reports omit usernames and device identifiers; the server retains the submitter relation privately for moderation and removal. Support tickets remain visible to their author and staff. A distinctive mod list or free-text note may still reveal something about you.
Low-end mode reduces background Steam scanning and console polling. Local tools show Canna's memory and the memory of a game launched and retained by Canna, plus a synthetic manifest-check benchmark. These measurements stay on your device. They do not measure game FPS or guarantee performance on another PC. Unity tools include BepInEx configuration and dependency tests; Source uses the existing -insecure modded launch, logs and addon/plugin management; Minecraft uses isolated content tests and instance configurations.
Automated tests cover shared game profiles, isolated install/recovery fixtures, privacy, authorization, expiring readiness, release promotion, dependency tests and desktop/mobile browser workflows. This release has not completed new live game or multiplayer verification for every supported title. Minecraft launching still needs Microsoft/Minecraft API approval. See the repository workflow test matrix for remaining checks.
Current features
Desktop 0.2.31 · Community 0.3.48Owner invitation management has a searchable, paginated history: filter active, used, expired or revoked invitations, sort by issuer, issuance date or the users with most invitations, recover newly generated codes and revoke one code or an entire unused wave. Generate 1–50 individual codes or a named wave. Newly issued codes are stored in the encrypted server database and only the Owner can view them. Legacy hash-only codes cannot be recovered, but active invitations can be revoked. Used codes show the recipient; revocation does not delete an existing account. Generation and revocations appear in Logs.
Canna rescans Steam in the background every 30 seconds and when you return to the app, so new supported installations and removals update automatically. Discover detects the installed Steam branch and build ID, including public, previous and beta branches. Build IDs are not game release numbers. Declared branch/build requirements are checked; unlabelled Thunderstore mods have unknown compatibility. Canna does not switch Steam branches or claim every mod works on a beta. Original mod creators are credited separately from the member who added a file; older catalog entries use their recorded author attribution.
Desktop Discover listings have a green Download button. Add Mods from a Steam modpack opens browsing filtered to its game and selects that pack in the visible Add downloads to selector. Approved downloads are added to that selected pack, including required dependencies; apply or launch the pack to install. Minecraft opens the release picker when no version or loader filter is selected. Details still allows choosing a specific release and optional dependencies. Canna recognizes the official BepInEx-BepInExPack loader dependency and its BepInExPack archive root for compatible Mono Unity games. The official 5.4.2305 archive layout and x64 proxy were validated for Bopl Battle; this is not a new in-game compatibility test.
Thunderstore browsing falls back to its public community package index when the experimental browsing API is unavailable. Canna caches compact metadata for 30 minutes, with search, categories, sorting and pagination; browsing does not download mod archives. CurseForge does not offer every supported Steam game.
Download Installer and Download Portable are available in the header. The Windows installer adds a Start menu entry, supports an optional desktop shortcut, and installs into your user’s Programs folder so Canna’s existing automatic updater can replace the application without administrator prompts. Uninstall is available in Windows Installed apps or by running unins000.exe in Canna’s installation folder. It removes Canna’s owned external recovery snapshots as well as its application folder, shortcuts, saved logins, settings, caches, downloads, local modpacks, skins and managed Minecraft instances—including their worlds. This is permanent. Steam game installations and mods already installed inside their game folders are separate. Portable downloads run without installation. Installer and portable editions currently contain desktop 0.2.31. The installer also includes Canna Maintenance 0.1.0, available through Windows Start, and a separate Canna Recovery copy. Maintenance can update or repair Canna, update or repair itself, restore verified previous copies, open update logs and run the full uninstaller. Downloads are verified against the server release checksum. The recovery copy stays intact during updater updates; use it to repair a missing or broken updater. Close Canna before updating it. Portable EXE downloads retain the existing built-in launcher updater.
The website adapts to phones and tablets, with touch-friendly controls, stacked discussions and moderation panels, and mobile account connection and support pages. Live chat starts collapsed on phones; tap its heading to open it.
Member directories and administrator member, Kash, review, ticket and log lists have server search and pages of 50 entries. Navigation links prefetch on hover or keyboard focus when supported by your browser. Panels stay hidden until startup finishes.
Desktop Discover opens Browse providers, with All sources enabled by default. All sources combines pages from the providers compatible with the selected game: Modrinth and CurseForge for Minecraft, and Thunderstore and CurseForge for supported Steam profiles. Individual provider filters remain available. Each combined result identifies its provider; provider-specific categories are labelled with their source and narrow the search to that provider. A failed provider shows a status message while successful providers remain browsable. Combined pages sort the returned listings, rather than promising a single global ranking across provider catalogs. Filter menus have stable top alignment, larger vertical lists, and a searchable game selector. Other filters cover game selection, categories, popularity/download sorting, pages, Minecraft versions and loaders. Browse listings or paste a project link, open Details / choose release, then Download & subscribe. Canna retrieves and reviews the archive on the server, saves approved downloads locally with checksum verification, and subscribes your account. Browsing retrieves metadata and thumbnails only. Subscriptions has search, pages, downloads, unsubscribe and a 30-second status refresh while visible. Choose a matching Steam modpack and Add to selected modpack, then Apply modpack or Launch modded; existing game compatibility and dependency checks apply. For approved Minecraft content, choose a compatible managed instance and Install into instance; data packs also need an existing world. Content and its required dependencies are verified before writing into mods, shaderpacks, resourcepacks or the world datapacks folder. Restart Minecraft to load new content. Minecraft account connection and launching still depend on Microsoft/Minecraft API approval. Community mods & modpacks retains the existing cached catalog and game cards. No provider API key is stored in the desktop app.
Within Community mods & modpacks, Discover starts with game artwork cards, with names below each image. Select a game to browse its content. Left 4 Dead starter listings include L4D2-Practice-Script, L4dAutoConfig and L4dRemovedMainMenuMusic as licensed Canna-installable VPK packages, for local practice and configuration. Workshop recommendations have been removed. Listings show descriptions directly; Show more opens a centered, fixed dialog inside Canna with a dimmed backdrop, artwork, full description, author/source links, dependencies and available Minecraft version/loader metadata. Download saves a verified catalog archive to Your downloads. Close the dialog with Close, Escape or a click outside it. Discover uses full-width compact mod cards and the remaining window height for scrolling. Resize the desktop app by dragging any edge or corner; double-click the title bar to maximize or restore it. Listings retain provided artwork and clickable author/source links. Projects without artwork have no invented logo. The practice script needs a local versus map and exec l4d2_practice in the console. Packages include the license and original source under canna-source/, inside the VPK or ZIP. These L4D addons have not been tested in a running game on this computer. To connect the desktop app, enter the six-character code on the dedicated verification page and return to Canna.

| Area | What you can do | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Game library | Detect Unity games across Steam libraries, see install and BepInEx status, open game folders, and create packs from game cards. Bopl Battle is the first catalog game. | Available |
| Modpacks | Create, edit, duplicate, delete, export and import local packs. Add mods, switch individual mods on or off, and manage required dependencies. | Available |
| Launching & diagnostics | Prepare supported mod loaders, launch vanilla or modded, stop a game launched and retained by Canna, and read game logs. For Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, select Source game in Console to follow console.log: engine messages, script prints and plugin output. Canna enables logging when launching these games. Restart an already-running game through Canna to enable it. Logs remain available after exit; viewing is limited to the last 256 KiB and refreshed once per second while Console is open. Silent addons may not print a loading message. Source output does not by itself prove every addon loaded. | Available |
| Downloads & updates | Browse the server catalog, keep downloads grouped by Steam modpack, add compatible files to a pack, and receive desktop updates at startup. | Available |
| Community library | Upload mod files and source, share modpack links, and filter library content by game. Website downloads try to open Canna and offer a manual fallback. | Available |
| Provider browser & cache | Open Mods in the main navigation. It is a dedicated browser and loads provider listings automatically. My library holds cached community mods and shared Canna modpacks; Subscriptions lists the projects you follow with search, page controls, Download and Unsubscribe. Search Thunderstore, Modrinth or CurseForge with game, category, version and sorting filters and paginated results. Downloads, upvotes, followers or popularity use the provider’s own data. Download & subscribe retrieves the selected version and required dependencies, caches them and subscribes your account to that project. Browsing and viewing listings retrieve metadata only. Approved downloads open Canna; pending files become downloadable in Subscriptions after analysis/review. Subscriptions follow newly approved compatible versions and notify you when an update is ready. Installed packs retain their pinned version until you update them. Add downloaded mods to a pack in Canna and apply or launch it. Archives from these providers expire after seven days and are removed during hourly cleanup. Listings, pinned versions, dependencies and review records remain. The same download button retrieves the exact original version again and checks its original size and SHA-256; changed or unavailable originals are refused. Update checks continue using provider metadata. Existing packs keep their pinned versions until explicitly updated. Manually uploaded files and curated GitHub packages do not expire. Files awaiting review are retained until review completes. Thunderstore browsing falls back to its documented public community index when the experimental endpoint is unavailable; it supports cached metadata, category filters, search, sorting and pagination. | Preview |
| Thunderstore game profiles | 185 Steam BepInEx game profiles are included from the MIT-licensed r2modman ecosystem registry, pinned to revision 64a6e9425a80da17274f0a096294b91d9529debe. These provide game detection, pack layout and reviewed loader dependencies. Canna verifies Windows loader architecture and Mono/IL2CPP compatibility, preserves existing configuration files, and installs reviewed plugin and preloader-patcher directories together. This is compatibility groundwork, not in-game verification of every profile. Special MonoMod packages and game families requiring other installers remain unsupported. | Preview |
| External projects | Import supported Thunderstore and Modrinth project links into the community library. CurseForge project API access is configured on the server. Supported project imports still depend on compatible files and the author permitting third-party downloads. | Available |
| Mod updates | The server checks one external project at a time, with at least 30 seconds between checks. Each project is checked daily, or when a member uses Check mod updates in Mods & modpacks. Manual checks have a shared 120-second cooldown across all accounts and devices. Supported Thunderstore, Modrinth, CurseForge and curated GitHub packages retain their selected Minecraft version and loader filters. Required dependencies are imported recursively with each new release. Downloads still depend on author permissions and provider availability. New files pass through analysis and review; the previous approved release remains available until the update passes. Recent update checks show the result. Existing modpacks keep their pinned files until you explicitly update their entries. | Available |
| Live chat & CannaBot | Global member chat with 24-hour message expiry, moderation and announcement banners. CannaBot supports /help, /fish, /daily, /balance, /collection, /coinflip (also /flip), /badges and /equip. Kash unlocks patterned leaf chat skins: Mint Stripes, Emerald Veins and Amethyst Spots. Existing /equip angler, /equip emerald and /equip legend commands select them. Your balance appears beside your username. Daily Kash reset at 00:00 UTC, fishing has a one-minute cooldown and 50 catches/day. Each coin flip uses an independent operating-system secure random draw with 50/50 odds. Repeated outcomes and alternating streaks can both occur; past results and your choice do not influence the next draw. Admin panel Logs records each flip’s choice, outcome, wager and balance change. Use /coinflip heads 10 or /coinflip tails 10 to wager Kash (any positive whole amount up to your balance, five seconds between bets, 20 bets/day). There is no streak correction or account-based weighting. | Available |
| Forum & profiles | Owners can create and rename forum group headings, add discussion sections beneath them and move sections between groups. In Admin panel → Forum sections, use Add forum group, name it, then Add discussion section here. Preview changes opens a full-size draft of the forum groups and sections. Check the layout, then Confirm & apply to publish it, or Back to editing to keep working. Validation errors appear beside the preview button. Open forum sections and discussions on their own pages with shareable URLs, a back button and the shared navigation bar. Post discussions and replies, ask for modding help, get private in-site notifications for replies, daily Kash readiness and mod acceptance/denial, see live updates, set a profile picture, status and bio, leave profile comments, and rate members with stars. | Available |
| Membership & moderation | Invite-only accounts, verified email, email sign-in codes, trusted devices, Member/VIP/Admin/Owner roles, moderation, and Owner-reviewed category creation, editing, reordering and deletion. Delete a populated category by moving its discussions into a remaining category. Admins and the Owner can publish an announcement banner and moderate the live chat. Changes use Canna-styled confirmation dialogs. | Available |
| Skin discovery | Search MinecraftSkins.net and SkinsMC, preview and save skins, choose classic or slim, and import/export PNGs. Applying a skin needs a successful Minecraft account connection. | Available |
| Minecraft launcher | Instance setup, Microsoft device-code sign-in, managed Java and loader setup paths for Vanilla, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Full authenticated launches, dependency handling and complete Minecraft modpack workflows remain under verification/development. | Preview |
| Unreal Engine games | Support for Unreal games and an appropriate modding framework is future work. Unity's BepInEx setup does not provide Unreal support. | Planned |
Chat retention and cosmetics
Chat messages disappear after 24 hours and are removed from the active database by scheduled cleanup. Rotating backups can retain older messages until those backups are replaced. Fishing collections, coin balances and cosmetic unlocks persist until account data is deleted. Chat displays the latest 100 unexpired messages.
Use Up and Down arrows in the chat input to recall your own recent sent messages and restore your draft. Type /help in the live chat for CannaBot commands. Earn 200 total Kash for Angler, 500 for Emerald or 1,500 for Legend, then use /equip angler, /equip emerald or /equip legend. Owners can adjust balances and total earned Kash in Admin panel → Kash, with a confirmation and logged reason.
Mod submissions and notifications
My submissions shows your uploads and imported external projects, their review status, and any denial reason. Accepted or denied entries leave this tab after seven days; accepted files remain in the library. Manual denial deletes the mod; automatic scan rejection quarantines it. Both record a reason and notify the submitter. Open Notifications → Clear all notifications to delete all of your read and unread alerts after confirmation. Other members’ notifications are unaffected. Dismissal markers prevent the same event from immediately returning; new events still arrive. Notification history is private to its recipient, limited to 500 records and retained for up to 30 days. Older entries can still be present in rotating backups and the staff audit history.
Minecraft & skins
LAUNCHER PREVIEWCanna's Minecraft work includes instance management and Microsoft sign-in, but it is not yet a fully verified launcher. Canna’s application has been submitted and is awaiting Minecraft API access approval before account login and account skin changes can be completed. A Microsoft code being accepted does not by itself confirm Minecraft access.
Create Minecraft instances from the first card in your game library. Canna’s Microsoft application ID is bundled and cannot be edited. To sign in, open Minecraft → Microsoft account → Sign in with Microsoft. A popup displays the code and opens Microsoft's page in your browser. You can copy the code, reopen the page or cancel. Canna does not ask for your Microsoft password; enter it only on Microsoft's sign-in page.
The Skins tab opens a home feed of Canna-created leaf skins with emerald, purple, amber, mint, midnight and copper color patterns and loads more as you scroll. Search results also load additional pages as you scroll, until the sources have no more results. External search uses a title filter but third-party images are not guaranteed to be moderated. The tab searches multiple websites. Save a result, choose its classic or slim model, and export it as a PNG. Local skin discovery, saving and export work without a Microsoft account connection. Applying it to your account requires Minecraft API access and a Minecraft Java profile.
Library filters include Minecraft version, loader and content type. Recursive dependency imports use the chosen version and loader. Complete instance installation, compatibility checking and launcher parity are still being developed; a filter result alone does not guarantee that a pack will run.
Frequently asked questions
Can I join without an invite?
No. Canna is invite-only. Each new member receives one friend invite. The Owner can create invite waves; Admins do not have permission to issue invites.
How do I add a mod from another website?
Open My library and click Add mod from external site at the top, or use the same button in desktop Discover. Paste a Thunderstore, Modrinth or CurseForge project link, click Look up mod, choose a file version, then Download & add to library. The server downloads and verifies the archive, stores it encrypted, and records its source, author, version, game, loader and dependencies in the library database. Reimporting that version reuses its existing entry. Provider downloads use a seven-day file cache; after expiry, the same button retrieves and verifies the original pinned archive. Clean scans publish automatically. Findings go to Mod reviews. Confirmed packer, obfuscator or malware signatures cause a logged denial; generic protection, high entropy and other uncertain packing heuristics require staff review. Manually uploaded mods always require staff approval. Required dependencies, including their dependencies, are imported automatically. Check Include optional dependencies too when you also want optional projects. Approval includes the imported dependency graph. Conflicting versions and cycles are rejected. CurseForge requires the Owner to configure an API key and the author to permit third-party downloads.
How do I manage logged-in devices?
Sessions stay signed in until you log out or revoke them. Open My profile → Logged-in devices, or Manage logged-in devices in desktop Settings. See device names, type, last activity and Active recently / Idle state; rename a device, log it out, or log out every other device while keeping this one. Password resets and account bans still revoke sessions. Browser names come from browser information; desktop connections use the PC name. Older sessions may have a generic name you can rename. The 30-day email verification trust is separate from session duration.
What happens after incorrect connection codes?
Five incorrect codes lock that connection request and record a security event. Codes expire after five minutes, and server rate limits restrict repeated attempts. Start a new connection from Canna if yours is locked or expired.
Is my Canna account the same as my Microsoft account?
No. Your Canna account gives access to the community and its downloads. Microsoft sign-in separately authorizes Minecraft access. Connecting one does not connect the other.
The app says “Configure a Canna account” or my library is empty. What now?
Open desktop Settings and choose Sign in & connect account. Enter the connection code on the dedicated verification page and return to Canna. Once connected, sync the server. A game must be installed and have a catalog entry to show catalog mods.
How do I enable, disable or remove a mod?
Open the pack's Content table and change the Enabled checkbox, or right-click the mod. Apply the modpack with the game closed. A required library cannot be disabled while an enabled mod depends on it. Files installed outside Canna's managed plugin directory may still load.
Will my friends need the same mods?
For mods that change gameplay, use matching mod selections and versions on each PC. A shared pack helps align selections, but it does not guarantee every third-party mod is multiplayer-compatible. Check the mod's requirements.
What happens when I delete a local modpack?
Its saved manifest moves to the local deleted folder. Undo delete restores the latest deletion during that session. Deleting the pack does not uninstall the game or remove shared local mod files.
Who can open a shared modpack link?
Signed-in Canna members. A link is not a public download permission and does not bypass membership checks. Exporting a local pack produces a file you can share separately.
Why does a skin source have no results or fail to load?
Skin websites can change their layout or block automated requests. Canna shows each source's status and offers links to search it in your browser. Other working sources can still return results.
How do roles, ranks and stars differ?
Member, VIP, Admin and Owner are permission roles. Activity ranks grow with forum participation; they do not automatically grant administration powers. Stars are reputation ratings from other members.
How are account details protected?
The website uses HTTPS. Passwords are stored as salted Argon2 hashes, not as recoverable passwords. Account identity data and stored community files use encryption at rest. Desktop account credentials use Windows protection. Email verification, email sign-in codes and expiring trusted devices add account controls.
Can I reset my password or stop trusting a device?
Use Forgot password on the sign-in page and follow the emailed code. Resend verification code helps with an unverified account. After signing in, your profile has a Forget all trusted devices action.
Does the desktop contain shared API keys?
Provider API keys and administration credentials stay on the server. Starting with Canna 0.2.15, application updates download from cannamods.vip without a shared repository token. Your device stores its own account and Minecraft login credentials encrypted with Windows DPAPI.
What happens if CurseForge is rate limited?
Configured project API keys cool down according to the provider’s Retry-After response before reuse. An available key can take over; when every key is limited, try again later. Author download restrictions still apply. Author upload tokens cannot be used for importing projects. Minecraft project links can import mods, resource packs, shaders, data packs and modpack archives; available file versions are paginated and loader labels are normalized. Imported modpack archives are downloads, not automatically installed Canna instances. Dependencies are listed for separate installation. CurseForge access is configured on the server; project metadata and file listings have been checked with the approved key.
Where do mods and updates come from?
The Canna community server supplies the mod library and shared packs after account connection. Desktop application updates use a separate release channel. Imported third-party projects retain their source information; check their descriptions and requirements before using them.
Need a hand?
Sign into the community and post in Modding help. Include your Canna version, game, modpack and exact error. For a desktop issue, the Console tab can help you find the relevant setup or game log.
If you cannot sign in, open a private support ticket, or contact the person who invited you. Keep passwords, email verification codes, Microsoft sign-in codes and account tokens out of posts and screenshots.
